ya runnin over rich , the effect you describe is called " bogging" , try adjusting the mixture screw ,if that has no effect its a smaller pilot jet , its the smaller of brass jets in top of carb , unscrew it n read the numbers ,an post on here , to lean the pilot mixture wind in the mixture screw ,at back of carb box either a screwdriver or 8mm nut , 1/4 turn at a time , ok , H

See above ^^^^ and check the choke is not stuck. Haha! Certainly sounds fuel (idle circuit) related. If you didnt before try using a proper compressed air gun through all your idle circuit in the carb and especially the idle jet itself. Sometimes a blow with ya mouth itsnt enough. (Ahem)! Is the float needle sealing ok?

sounds like a bit of dirt in the tip of the pilot jet, sometimes a strand of copper electrical wire is needed to clear it

very carefully ,there finely regulated holes you dont want to scratch or enlarge ,as bsr65 says only ever use copper wire ,but as a last resort , carb or brake cleaner an compressed air , keep a tight hold as shooting a jet across a garage doesnt do it any favours , but for the cost i'd jus stick a new jet in , H

Thanks , striped carb blown out refitted set mixture screw to a turn and a half out and it runs a lot better just a slight hesitation at first turn of the throttle but not bad,so if I want to get it any better what would you suggest, many thanks

difficult 1 , if it improves with mixture screw further out maybe the nxt pilot jet up, if that makes it worse nxt 1 down , what year is ya scoot , early ones had a course thread on mix screw an 1 1/2 turns is right , moderner 1's its a fine thread an 3 turns out is the base setting , if a recent scoot ya could try another 1 1/2 turns , or if its livable with ,leave alone an ride the beggar , carb tuning by computer aint easy/ideal . As henri says, starting with the idle screw fully closed, then turn 1 1/2 or 2 1/2 - 3 turns out, depnding on the model/carb. If is only 1/2 out it will not run right.
H is right, online carb tuning is not ideal!!
But quickly, start it. Take it for a ride to warm it up. Then fine tune/adjust the idle screw. Dont expect it to be fully warmed up by just revving it on the stand for a minute or 2. Youre listening for an constant, even, ryhtmic pulse/beat from the exhaust. Adjust 1/8 -1/4 turn at a time. Let the motor settle/adjust itself for a couple of seconds. The change of the 'beats' of the engine are subtle so its not easy. When its nice the exhaust will putt away in even rhythm/pulse/beat and the throttle, when 'blipped' very quickly, will return to idle after just a couple of seconds.
If you need more help, ill try and write it down in more detail but we all have our own methods. Or try a search on how the set the idle. Id be shocked if thats not been explained somewhere before!
Ideally ask a friend that knows how and can teach you, or even pop in your local 2 stroke workshop and ask them nicely if they could adjust your idle screw quickly. 2 min job for them if you have your panel off ready and are holding the right tool ready for use. Wave a potrait of the Queen in front of them and I'm sure they'll do that for you!!

as above but also when setting idle/mixture if scoot has idled for 30 seconds blip the throttle to clear the inlet , 2 strokes "gas up" on idle which will richen the mix n giv ya false readings, ok, H

I had this on mine. I would clean the idle jet and it would be fine for a couple of rides then it would happen again. I ended up renewing the idle jet and it has been fine for the last 6 months.
