where does the yellow wire come out in the loom ,by reg box or up by headset ,where it runs to might give you some clues as to its use ,i'm only familiar by memory with the 2 wire blue/black plug looms ,but ive a vague memory/idea some later high-output stators had more wires ,yours is a 5 wire 1 , green, white, red to cdi an blue/black to loom yes . where'd ya get the loom from ,i think i'd ask them the crack, or you could try asking beedspeed ,there 1 of the best for looms, but if ya didnt buy from them its a bit cheeky ,an they might not want to know . a second thought on my above vague idea , i think some lml indian 1's have more wires ,maybe ,sorry i cant pin my memory down better,H

Thanks for the info, just notice on the old loom that 1 wire had been chopped back but its green, got the loom from beedspeed and i thought this was gonna be simple lol, pretty sure it comes out at the headset.

if its a beedy one it should be fine, theve a top rep, ring em an i think its been said on here that "dave" is there loom guru, an would prob of made yours , ring em an i'll bet ya get ya answer ,if so please post on here as this sort of stuff keeps me awake at nights not knowin the answer , weird i know but true, an the wire thats been chopped you say is green , the only green 1 i can think off down at the junction box is the kill switch/ignition wire from the cdi , was the scoot stopping on the key/switch with old loom or where ya having to stall it , H

All as above... The yellow is the main power wire from regulator to handlebar switch, the green is ignition kill.
Don't think there are any P Range variants that use any more wires, possibly LML or other, but not Italian.

thanks nic i wasnt sure but ya seem to confirm my faulty/reticent memory , an as rab chipped in the yellows on the reg box not the junction box , an the extra 6 wire stator is as stated a niggling background memory n not to be taken as "gospel" , H

I've heard of the stators with an extra wire but - unless it's related to the new even lower powered PX - I don't think they're Italian.
In fact, thinking about it, god knows what they ARE for as I've had an LML stator on a Vespa in the past, exactly the same except for the connectors.

same as me ,i use lml stators instead of piaggio , half the money n diff readings on metering but so long as its lml genuine good quality, but same as you have heard off 6 wire stators but not seen em , maybe there another "piaggio" myth , scoots eh ,youve got to etc etc ,H

Dont know, i bought the scoot after it had lay in a garden for years and years,i bought a temp engine for it, it also only has the two wires coming from the fly wheel, will have to be monday before i can phone beedspeed.

looks like i was mistaken, the yellow, blue and black go to the rear light and the blue, black and green go to the fly wheel and thanks to you guys i now know the green is the kill switch, problem is now with the replacement engine, i never got a custom loom because i plan on getting my p200e original engine restored when i have the cash, it has lay with water in it for years so you can imagine the work and the parts involved, if i just connect the blue and black wire, will this mean i will have to stall the scooter? i will post a picture of the replacement engine.

Blue and black are the lights, ignore them. Then you need to connect the last CDI connection to a length of wire and find a way to earth it to kill the engine.

yep on the outside connecter thats not got anything on it in ya piccy , the other end should run up to the ignition switch on the loom an ya good to go, as a aside on ya rusted up lump, whilst playin with this one it will be worth sitting it in a washing up tub or old baby bath n pouring a few gallons of diesel in an on it ,its almost as good as wd40 at penetrating an loads cheaper , will make taking it apart loads easier n will prob save you time/hassle an components/bolts = money , H

thanks for the advice, found a few other issues, the new loom don't earth the rear indicators from the side panel lock so i will have to figure this out, also im using my old handlebar switches with the old wiring and have notice the yellow wire going to the horn is a bit black, should i just renew everything regarding electrics? the switches look ok and i have greased them up.

The switch should be OK, try it first...
The indicators earth back through the panel clips- mainly the spring mount on top of the panel/lug on the chassis - so no earth return wire needed.

There isn't an earth wire. The current is carried up the panel by a wire from the front plug to the indicator itself. From there, the current runs through the bulb and to a tab held by one of the indicator mounting screws. It runs into the panel, and makes it's way back to the spring clip (or anywhere else that's touching the frame). After that, it's earthed and doesn't need a wire.

as nik says , an i'd use switch cleaner/lube if was going to spray the switch , wd40's ok to get ya out of a jam at side of road but switches are better with the proper stuff , H

this is a picture of the old loom, you can see the earth wires on the side panel locks, my new loom don't have these, why are they there if i don't need them?

there body earths not negative so if you find the indicators or rear light will not work simply make your own from the earth pins on the holders to frame or panels using a bit of .75 upto 1 mil wire and find a decent bit of rust free steel to fix the other end . don't forget to re protect any bare metal if you make an earth point hole. as to why they are there somebody could have re mounted them to that point for a decent earth or any number of reasons just because they can

oops ,touched a raw (rusty)nerve have we , bad boy rab , an i usually put a big earth connection to a bolt through the hole ya can see hiding behind the loom in ya piccy ,clean it back to shiny steel an cover it in copper grease after its tight ,keep the corrosion at bay for a few years , an ive often found a bolt welded to the inside of the nearside for a earth ,its a common fix/improvement , H

jeez rab , when in a "hole" stop diggin , whatever that means its what i was taught n whilst on the subject of holes ,if 2 men dig a hole in 1 day,how long does it take 1 man to dig half a hole, anyways on earths , ya can get "electrical glue" its conductive an if covered in araldite will give a 100% solid n lasting earth thats corrosion resistant , its a bit belt n braces , an as a aside on indicaters n side panel earths , serveta the spanish lambretta builder did away with dodgy pin connecters n just wired em in with spade connecters for when panels were taken off.ive done the same with the panels on my missus's scoot an so far no earth/feed probs , H

pictures an a description of whats puzzling ya needed ,i'm assuming its a p series with ign switch in headset ,an which lighting switch ,the older toggle 1 or more px style rocker 1 , didnt beedys send ya a wiring diagram with loom ,they usually do.if not there mostly download-able from there website , thats where i nick em from when building my own looms , get the diagram an then go through it 1 wire /circuit at a time .its a bit daunting when faced with a handful of wires n connecters ,but broke down into 1 at a time you'll be surprised how fast ya stand back n its done,H

sorry i havent a p series to photo at the minute , but from memory on the 2 positions of switch when off the green is connected to the black wire ,thats ya kill-switch .and when on the other wires are all connected ,if ya look at back of switch whilst turning key an noting where contacts are you should get a idea of what i mean , you dont have to worry about which of the contacts to which wire just that theres 2 circuits an not to mix em up ,hope that helps ,an wish i had a photo, worth 10,000 words eh. for the lamp ,is it a 3 pin connecter on the headlamp bulb ,or as youve said older style 4 spades , the wiring normally goes yellow for pilot, black earth on the contact thats connected to both bulbs holders ,an high beam is violet with dip brown , i can never remember which way violet/brown go so just guess an check before putting headset screws in an swap if wrong ,but they need to match the warning lamp for mot.
