hello to all i was hoping someone could point me in the right direction, ive lammys and a px before, many years ago, a number of mates have got themselves scooters and i want to go through the same second childhood/mid life crisis as them, so ive been looking at a brand new px 125, my mate has a two year old one that has been fitted with a malossi kit, which he is quite happy with. im sure this has been asked before, but before i purchase my spx what do i need to get to get the best from my scoot, , is malossi the best, do i need a new exhaust pipe, if so which one, your assistance would be deeply appreciated many thanks

the answers you will receive will start with.... what do you want it to do? go like the clappers racing against anything and everything on fast roads or just have that little bit more power/speed and reliability and ease of riding? or???
and will end with...how much money do you want to chuck at it? it starts with a £150 kit and ends £***'s later with up gear kit, new clutch, new carb, new exhaust etc etc
try your mates if he'll let you and see if you like his set up!

as above tuning and mods is a tin of worms decide what you are going to use your scoot for there is loads of mods you can do so you need to decide what you want from it and how far you want to go.if you just want to start with basics then your first one is drilling the air filter. personal and experience of molossi is dam good kit with a 24 mil carb but it will break as fast as it will go and it makes a horrible rattle noise at low speeds which id say the now popular and very good dr180 kit on a 20 or 24 mil carb there is a few more but i cant rate any other as i don't know how well they work or break.exhaust sterling or revolver for the look and power gain on a new head or a sip2 for your power and standard looking pipe

Oh yeh! The DR kit! Its got a great reputation and very popular. Various different carb/exhaust set ups seem to work well too! These a few people on here with kitted 125's so you should be good for advice.

For starters if you want to keep the warranty your dealer might agree to swap the exhaust. The change from a cat exhaust to a sitoplus made a massive difference to mine and no effect on the warranty. They wouldn't do me the sip road 2. Adding a kit will invalidate the warranty straight away

many thanks to all i will be using the scoot mainly for going to rallies and ride outs, also, when i had scooters years ago on a nice evening finish work have tea then ride up the local mountains, joy riding. i suppose i dont want to be embarrassingly the last one miles back on ride outs, not interested in racing etc just want that bit extra power, someone mentioned the warranty which is something i didnt think about earlier, the nearest dealer to me is Bill Smith in chester, my mate bought a px 125 already kitted he says he has had 70 mph out of it and he is a straight honest sort of bloke, others have got lammies not sure what size im sure they would wait for me, known all these blokes for many years but would just like to be able to keep up, so i suppose im looking for a simple solution bearing in mind the warranty

keep it simple if warranty issues worry you, a sip road2 pipe an drilled filter with a slight upjet ,an keep old pipe n filter an stick em back on for servicing .that way you keep ya warranty ,H

Don't forget the speedo's tell many lies. Mine showed i was doing 100km/ph, i was testing it using the 'my tracks' app on my phone and it showed i was doing just over 51mph so your mates 70 might not be what it seems.

depends , how much ya weigh for 1 thing , but it will have more low revs torque an power so better at maintaining speed up hills ,an keeping at cruising speeds at less revs=less wear n tear n fuel used , an keeps it reliable too, as ya tune the more speed ya get comes at the cost of easy startin/reliability/fuel economy an engine life between builds , best answer to ya question i can give is "better than before" , H

what H said i have mine set for commuting with hills and economy in mind. i stuck a 20 mill carb on the dr 180 with a sterling pipe and only changed the main to a 112 then put the modded filter on i get a lovely smooth ride and no longer worry about killing the engine or top end but still have the option of a 24 mil carb if i want full power. i get a good cruising speed of 55 and can push it over 60 with all the chrome on.when i take the 2 ton of chrome off the front end lifts on take off and she fly's to 60 and wants to give more me being cautious wont take it over 60 without a 24 mill carb

I'd agree with all that's been posted, that's spot on, except it's missing the option of 'pass test, buy 200', but I apprecaite with the costs these days, it's not a small decision to make.
