Hi people,,
following up from my previous threads I have just taken delivery of a new COSA clutch 22 tooth for my Mk 1 PX
I have taken out the old early type clutch with the castle nut and am now wondering what I need to upgrade to my New Cosa type one
So far I have brought new preasure plate kit p200 one, flanged nut, dremmeled out the clutch case, but not sure if I need a washer behind the nut to keep the thing from slipping off??
Also what's the best way to prep the clutch before installing??
Cheers guys

ya def need the security washer behind the nut if not using a cage n castle nut ,an i always compress the clutch to make sure its workin ok before putting on , a clutch compressor or studded rod n 2 washers&nuts , stick it through center hole, compress clutch n give it a shake ,plates should rattle around n move freely ,whilst compressed pull out the circlip n take plates n soak in sae30 overnight then hang up to drip dry ,when drips stop stick em back in in right order ,always worth checkin as ive seen em assembled wrong from factory, put circlip back in makin sure ends are tucked into groove n not in a gap , i always use semi-permanent thread lock on nut aswell as washer jus to be safe ,an check alignment with gears ,theres diff size shims ya can get to make gear meshing dead right , H

Cheers H,, I just remembered I asked the scooter shop to pre soak the clutch for me so I can slap straight in my scoot,, just opened the box up to find the clutch wrapped up and well well oiled up. contacted the seller and he confirmed he done it for me and checked the clutch over fully.
Trip to Allstyles weekend for me then for a washer !! cheers again H

Today the new Cosa 22 tooth clutch was installed!
Before installing I checked to make sure the clutch basket measured correctly 21mm depth and it was!!
Made sure corks/plates where in right order and well oiled.
Fitted in to casing (like a glove "perfect fit") washer-nut torqued 32LB
Fitted old clutch cover which had been (modded) to fit
Clutch arm hardly needed pulling forward to get the right slack on the cable
Went out for a spin 15 mile ride and all is well. Very smooth change of gears and best of all Pull's like a B***h and holds a good top end without reving like mad.
However I would say, I could have got away with a 23 tooth clutch also as I've plenty of torque and pull left in the old girl still!!
