Hi, i have a derestricted pk50 and it keeps seizing. I passed my cbt in april and had only done around 400 miles when in june i started to get preignition from air getting in..my club fixed that problem jut then im july my scooter seized at around 40mph..i then decided to carry on at 30mph and it seized again and the back wheel locked..i got it home..there was a lump of grass stuck inside buy i got it out and went to a rally last weekend..it had a small seize on the way there then on the way back it seized and just wouldnt start again at all
The engine has been checked and barrel iant scored or anything..from the first time it seized i still have the same fuel&oil inside as it doesnt get used up quickly..any ideas?

What mods. have you done to derestrict it?
Try retarding your timing a little. Clean your carb thoroughly and upjet Check you have the correct mix of oil and petrol!! Hopefully its as simple as using the correct 2% mix

I never derestricted it, that was the way i got it. I dont have a clue about how to fix scooters but whenever anyone comes to have a look at it i am being told completely different things

its a smallie , they leak air in on the carb/manifold a lot , that will lean up ya mixture an cause seizures ,an when barrel was declared unscored was the piston checked ,an polished back where it had seized , is it still a 50cc or kitted ,as the clearance on some kits between barrel n piston isnt always right , an what exhaust is on it , as a too restrictive/blocked/choked exhaust will cause piston to overheat n seize when full throttle is used, you'll prob get more answers on the "vespasmallframe forum" , careful tho there all dremel happy tuning nuts over there , but know pk's backwards , an that horncast dont look pk'ish ,looks like a "speedmatic" ,cosa-etta one , put up a piccy of engine please , H

I know someone in Edinburgh who may be able to help, if that's any use? Or there is Vivo Scooters, they're good.
Best bets though are the usual ones: Not been jetted correctly, timing out etc.

pkfl, dont know that scoot, havent had/worked on a pk, not knowing how its "de-restricted" but guessing larger carb an banana exhaust is usual start , sbwnic's not jetted right would be where i'd start , what colour is your spark plug showing ,pictures would help, an ya say "being told diff things" ,by who an how many, ask ya club members who's local an good with scoots shops/mechanics/dealers . when ya say wont start ,is it still turning ,as smallies have a weakness in the flywheel woodruff key ,they can break allowing flywheel to move around the crank putting timing out, its a common fault, an pk 50's have a notoriously weak crank ,when crank stops dead in a seize the weight of flywheel an its inertia to still spin can twist the crank if woodruff dont break first, you need to check timing or pull the flywheel an check the key,the give away for a twisted crank is a tight spot when turning engine by hand with plug out , or scuff marks on inside of cases /outside of crank webs on strip down . if your not up for stripping engine an fixing it yaself an cant find a local mechanic/scoot shop ,have ya thought of couriering it to somebody else trusted/reccomended , weigh it n measure the size of cardboard box to cover it an stick it on "parcelmonkey" ,if guys can ship a frame to be jigged in cumbria for 20 quid a engine should be less/same.
