hi all,
I was a member on here before it all changed...
I have a px200 and over the last few months my scooter have developed a problem... when changing through the gears the engine keeps racing for a few seconds and sometimes the engine will carry on racing even if I take the key out! My friend had a look at the carb without finding anything of note.
any ideas what I should check next?
cheers guys
Matt

It's a huge airleak somewhere. The couple of times I've had one that bad it's been the head leaking. Take the cowl off and look around the base of the head for any signs of blow past - an oily residue. If there is, torque the head nuts up properly and hope it's not got warped. 17Nm IIRC, but I'd check that. Nip up the two carb bolts GENTLY. Don't overdo it or you could end up warping the carb. If nothing, then drop the gear oil and look/smell for petrol. If any, main seal has gone.
There are a couple of other possibilities, but they're the most likely, and in that order.
