riding home from work tonight scooter died several times first time i was in the middle of an overtake at 60 mph it just cut out and wouldent re start for ten mins .eventually got it going just for it to die every 2 miles on a ten mile run home in rush hour traffic it took me an hour to do 10 miles .got it back got the plug out all was ok got a light down the plug hole only to find pits in the piston and found a gear box leak at the same time . soo been to my local scooter fixer man to double check and diagnose properly and its getting a new dr180 kit a new 20/20 carb all new gaskets and seals on the fly wheel side new cruciform while the case is off seems daft not to £240 parts and fitted. all in all a very sh*tty day money i did not want to spend but a very fair price to get it sorted

Why a new carb that's the same as the one that's on? I'd have thought with the 180, you'd be better off with a 24/24?

Sorry about your aggro, Rab. As Nik says, I found the 24/24 better with the DR180.

Ill introduce you swm if you ever need him hope you dont tho . I do have a 24/24 on the scoot but going down to 20 /20 then up jetting its an every day hack scoot so ill get better econamy and less wear on the 20/20 .i know i know less performance but the 24 carb is in need of a full overhaul and the 20 carb came out cheeper than the fix . The molossi will ned a new piston and rings but the barrel seems to have escaped damage .think it was just a mixture of high running temp and the hot weather that caused it .i used it to get to work this morning riding at low revs and it was fine in the cooler weather

What are you on at the momentm ill keep an eye out for you? I find myself beeping my horn if i see a scooter when out driving the wife's car, try accompany it with a wave but can imagine it gets confusing. I have to say, the standard of nodding in and around Leeds is disapointing, even fellow scooterists. I've tried 3 times with one lad on a vespa i always pass going the other way, but he just stares straight ahead.

It got new rings this year its just over heating and cutting out it cant cope with being higley tuned and all this heat .i think the fact its the molossi kit is the only reason it hasent seized or smashed .it still runs sweat as a nut when it cools down

For an everyday hack, the 166 isn't a great choice... You'd have been better off with a boggy 125

I assume you don't smoke? I could otherwise see the lighter being put to use here!!!!! Bad luck, but once done it'll be getting there and they are sent to try us. On another note, better to puncture like that rather than when actually riding along at speed so a bit of positivity going on here perhaps..................!! Good luck.

All fixed there is no way you could do a rear wheel change on your own curb side .need to go get some goop monday what ever caused it went in the side wall tyre and tube nakerd at least it was road side and not at speed or me and the scoot would have been on the deck with gravel rash . Scooter gets more cash and attention than the wife .i probebly love it more aswell hehehe
