Right,ok,now I'm sure this has been well covered on here but whether it's me age or the onset of madness,I can't find it. Recently bought a 2006 px125 with a mere 3000 miles on clock .... Now I also happen to have a brand new standard exhaust in my possession my question is,if I was to remove the strangling standard catalysed pipe that's fitted and replace with afore mentioned Piaggio standard pipe, would I need to replace anything else or plug anything else up etc Ahh thang u very much

We’ve talked a lot about upjetting for a change from a strangled cat to a performance pipe – going up a couple of jet sizes. I imagine you want to use the new standard because it is ‘in your possession’, so less of an upjet, but still some. Have you drilled the air filter? If not, as a start point for discussion before the big boys get here, why not drill the air filter and change the pipe, go up a couple of jet sizes, and plug chop it at that. If you’re not up on filter mods; it’s here: vespa.proboards.com/thread/3939/drilling-holes-filter-simple-increase

so long as ya remove the secondary air box thats connected to cat pipe aswell an check the jetting , on the vespa club uk forum theres a pinned thread on "de-restricting" a modern scoot ,havent done it myself or read it but it should cast some light on whats needed , i would of thought a free-er flowing exhaust might need a slightly larger main jet ,check ya jet size an re-jet to a non-cat px125 jetting an ya should be ok/close to where its needed .H

Cheers fellas...all I need now is the motivation to do it ,going slow isn't that bad Does the cat jobby thing just unplug and that's it? I want to use the standard Piaggio pipe as I already have it and I've never been a fan of big motorbike exhausts on scooters anyway..

I'll find it in a minute; still looking. The cat jobby plugs into the exhaust you're removing, so job done. I'm sure the thread says nothing other than jetting needs doing. Didn't mean big lairy exhausts - standard looking performance exhausts; I have a SIP Road 2, which is a good improvement, but looks standard. www.sip-scootershop.com/en/products/racing+exhaust+sip+road+20+_24166200But as you say, you already have the Piaggio one.

Hi all, this is my first post. All this cat stuff is new to me as the last Vespa I owned was an original T5 in 1989. Does cat/secondary air system removal have any bearing on passing the MOT?
Regards.

I don't see how it can; there's no emissions testing for our (motorcycle) MOTs (yet) - or we'd all be off the road! That ain't gospel, but just can't see it.

Great, thanks for that. It's been a long time since I had a scooter MOT'd. My Li150 Special which I bought in July is due one in March but being 1964, it definitely wouldn't need anything like emissions testing.
