Hello all. Just wondered if anyone could give me their advice. My clutch cable adjustment screw has sheared off inside the housing bit that is attached to the engine casing. It's so small and in such a fiddly place I just wondered if there was any alternative to having it drilled out and re- threaded? Are there any other little tricks that anyone knows of? :-) much appreciated. Pete

ive had to drill them out before ,an instead of trying to cut a new thread there as its fiddly fitted a longer threaded adjuster with nuts both sides of the casting ,so you can adjust it,makes adjusting the cable a bit more fiddly but gets ya mobile again . also seen somebody who didnt want to drill out old adjuster adapt a early vbb brake cable bracket to work ,there a steel bracket that bolts to the casing rather than the adjuster running through the ali casting . seemed like a lot of work to avoid dropping the engine or putting scoot on its side to get at an drill/tap the old adjuster, tho it did mean he could alter the angle the cable pulled on the arm an reckoned it made it easier/smoother ?.H

Thanks henri. I think I might try the first option of just drilling out and adding a longer one. Any ideas where I might get one? Pete

Any scooter or motorcycle shop. I think they're a 5mm diameter one. Standard fitting on all bikes and scooters anyway.

I've done that longer adjuster mod like Henri suggested where the threads in the casing were poor. Works better in my opinion as easier to loosen a locknut to adjust either way after the usual road crud/corrosion takes place (yes I do clean my scoot).
