Hi guys- After fitting new crankshaft and putting it all back together, engine fired up a treat. However, got myself a problem. when i adjust the clutch up i lose the compression, so engine cannot start. If I loosen the cable, then its back to normal. Dont really know how I can explain it any better than that. Any theories much appreciated. Cheers

Tighten the clutch cable too much its the same effect as pulling the lever in, so when you kick it, you're not turning the engine over.
Cable should be tightened about enough to take all the slack out the arm at the clutch housing end (i.e the point where you can no longer move the arm with your hand), if you do it any more than that you're starting to work the clutch itself.
If clutch does not operate when set like this, you have a problem with the clutch itself or the arm/plunger assembly..

All sorted, thing is I still don't know what caused it. I took the clutch off, took it apart, reassembled it. Nothing looked wrong. Just one of those scooter mysteries.…

Maybe not fastened down far enough the first time. A good thing you checked it
