I've just started running in my HB 207 motor and I'm finding that the Cosa clutch is dragging ie creeping forward while in gear with the clutch lever pulled in, the clutch was rebuilt with newfren plates and uprated springs and the steels appeared to not be warped prior to fitting, I've heard that increasing the size of the castellations on the clutch basket to 21mm can rectify this problem as non std corks can sometimes be to thick. My question is if its ok to do this mod just using a file or grinder and a vice or is it something that requires more specialist attention?
Cheers
Shaun

It can, but I'd recommend the older style clutch, it's what's going in my reed valved 207, as I've been told by a couple of tuners that Cosa clutches aren't up the the game. That said, yes, the castellations can need filing out, and yes it is something you can do with a file provided you are very careful about getting everything square and the same depth.

Nik, I've got a cosa clutch in my Polini and love it, not had any problems other than the snatching which I cured by building the bloody thing properly. Mine's not reeded but all I've done is put in Malossi springs and it's never given me woe, even when it was a Malossi 210.

That's the point - the older clutch shouldn't need stronger springs
