If so, is it noisy?? fitted mine last week, had loads of mechanical noise, a loud tap with every stroke, like the piston was touching the head.. Ended up stripping it all off again. Checked it all over, no damage to head, barrel or piston, swish gap ok, so refitted last night, sounds just the same (I have fitted the rubber dampers to the head).. I spoke with PM Tuning who said they generally ran a bit lounder than standard, but I dunno, it just does not sound right, though there is no damage or marking on anything, so there is no obvious signs of any problems.. Not heard another T5 with a Malossi kit so nothing to compare.. anyone got any thoughts?

was going to fit a malossi 166 kit on my p125x as part of the engine rebuild , but was told the crankcases need porting to suit the kit so i brought a DR kit . the DR kit needs no porting as the piston has them ( 10 ) , I've had no problems with it and have done about 1000km on kit , because of the portings on piston the top end sounds a bit noisy (like the small end bearing is shot ie a metallic rattle ) it 's more noisy at idle ? rang beedspeed but been told this is normal.. the noise did worrie me but have been giving the bike a good flat out run ( to get jetting right ) and it ain't gone pop yet ;D most people have a sports pipe with this kit so if your going to fit a simonini exhaust to your t5 your won't hear it at all

The 172 kits a straight bolt on to the T5, but you need a modified head, which I had done by PM.. Yep, it does sound like a shot little end bearing and at it's worse on tickover or when you slow down, you can also 'feel' the clank of every stroke right through the bike on tickover! Got to run it in but I'm sure I'll get used to it, like you say with a Simonini I won't hear it , it's just harsher and far noisier than I'm used to, though the fact that I have no side panels at the mo probably doesn't help ;D. Think after a few hundred miles I'll take the barrel off and check all is ok in there..
