Sounds like a good do apart from the very good reason not to go.

I was going to go to this, then I realised it clashed with the night I shave my head with a cheesegrater whilst watching Celebrity Big Brother and stuffing wasps up my arse.

I took Pam to a Simply Red concert at Lancashire Cricket Club when we first started going out together. It was good.

When I was getting my last tat done, I was reading an article in Mojo about Mick Hucknall. The tattooist looked over my shoulder and asked why. I said he's doing an album of Bobby Blue Bland covers because he's his hero, and the good news is, he's decided to get back to his blues roots and split up Simply Red. The tattooist summed it up with two words. "Nice one".

The tattooist summed it up with two words. "Nice one". Hucknall's crimes against music have been many and varied, from his days in punk bandwagon-jumpers The Frantic Elevators right through the entire godawful Simply Red canon but perversely the bloke does have taste in music. He was a co-founder and financial backer of the finest reggae reissue label ever, Blood and Fire, and for that I shall always be grateful. Sadly they've closed down now but there's about 50 fantastic reggae/dub/DJ albums sitting on my shelf right now that I otherwise wouldn't have owned without BAF.

He was at the infamous Sex Pistols gig in Manchester as well wasn't he?
Though I've never really liked the Sex Pistols anyway.

Of the 50 or so in the audience of that Sex Pistols gig, over 200 of them went on to become music journalists writing about it.

When they come on the old wireless I wanna fall from the stars too ... preferably without a parachute. My aunty and uncle were at that gig Zepp Sorry about the delay, Devo. We're in the process of moving house/job. The gig was good, not only because Hucknall, despite what people think, can sing and is a showman, but because one of the support bands was 'Burning Spear'! Wow!

Robbie Williams is a showman Zepp, but I'd rather eat the regurgitated remnants of the seek kebab I had last night that watch the tubsy whoopsy dancer live

Devo, That sounds quite appetising! I was trying to impress Pam (we had just started going out together), but grudgingly had to admit that the show was good. Is that different from saying that Hucknall is a showman? I hope so - I don't want to lose any cred!
