Greetings everybody. Hope you are enjoying the festivities and haven't broken everything that Santa brought you yesterday. Don't have a Vespa yet. Got so many questions to ask once I find my way around the forum. Right, this is a long one (ooer, missus) Continuous motorbike owner for the last 33 years. Had 32 bikes but never a scooter but my sister did have a 10 year old LI150 in 1974. Currently have an R1. Had a Honda Blackbird for 7 years. My wife Carol and I have toured France, Germany, Czecho & Denmark. Done trackdays on my SP1 and accumulated 9 good boy stars in the last 3 years. SO...Cut the sh*te and get on with it I hear you cry... Well, getting totally fed up with doing 100+. For the past 4 years I have used a Honda XR250 during winter and I am getting to appreciate that you can have fun at slower speeds. Really love the look of 50/60s Vespas. I have just finished reading Peter Moore's, Vroom with a view. Excellent. www.petermoore.net/vroom/vroom.htmAnyway, gonna swap one of my bikes for an old Vespa. Not one that needs doing up. I have had enough of cold, dark garages, skinned knuckles and oily fingerprints on cold cups of tea. I fancy one that's already been done. Seen a few websites that seem to have what I'm looking for. I have seen some of the warnings on this forum , thanks and it is well to bear in mind the phrase "caveat emptor". Right that's enough waffle. Looking forward to you guys answering some of my questions. Please forgive me in advance for the blindingly obvious and just plain dumb.

You're very welcome to the site Roxxo, we fully accept converts, so we're like the Catholics only without the raging guilt and oppression.
The advice I always give to people looking to buy a second hand scooter is to go along to your local club (if you PM me your location I can tell you where that club will be), introduce yourself and say you're interested in getting a scooter. Club members will be only too pleased to help you (especially as you are returning from the dark side), and because we hate getting ripped off, we don't like to see it happen to anyone else.
There's always someone who knows loads more about scooters than you do (I speak from experience) so the club is a great way to draw on a big pool of knowledge.

Thanks for the welcome and advice Spence. I admit I have a lot to learn but I am a keen pupil.
