 Simonini Racing Exhaust
« Thread Started on Jan 15, 2010, 11:33pm »

Does anyone know anything about Simonini racing exhaust pipes please? Im close to shelling out for a scooter that has one of these fitted, but not sure how loud it will be? The scoot in question is a PX125 and it is for sale at Ron Daley Scooters in Barnsley. Im not against added performance or a bit of noise, but dont really want to drive around the 'hood' p*shing everybody off, if you know what i mean?? Any feedback would be appreciated, thanks.

Alright Joey - im assuming that the pipe is called simonini racing? Im going by the pictures sent to me via email. I was trying to read the writing written on the side of the pipe...i think it says 'Simonini' with Racing' underneath but not 100% sure? Alright cbt, it looks like Ron Daley Scooters (Barnsley) put these pipes on all their bikes going by their website. I spoke to the lads at the shop who are keen scooterists and they felt that these pipes were ideal for the px's. The bike im thinking of buying is a 125 so im hoping that the pipe isnt too loud. I just sold a lambretta gp200 with a monza kit etc fitted - you could here me coming a mile away! Not my cup of tea fella. Any more feedback would be great thanks, i havent parted company with my money yet, so sthe sooner the better, cheers!!

I think Joey might have been questioning the 'racing' pedigree of the Simonini exhaust, seeing as the general consensus is that you get next to nothing in the way of added performance from them. You do however get a bit more noise. ;D

Sorry kid, I wasn't taking the mick, although when I saw SImonini "racing" and exhaust in the same sentence I laughed that hard a bit of wee came out. ;D
In all honesty they're not a bad pipe although it's actually better to pay a few bob more and buy a standard.
The simmo will give a bit more through the gears and a smidge on top end but will fall to bits after not very long at all.
If it's already on the scoot then by all means go for it but if you want a proper increase over standard then you need to start looking at a decent expansion.
I'd also echo the comment made about prices, some dealers do tend to have a bit of a giggle when it comes to their prices. If it's your first scoot then it might be a good option but better to get in with someone who knows what they're looking at and try the small ads etc.

I think the simonini, is not the best choice for your px125, because, the only thing that simo gonna give you is a bit of more speed/power in highers RPMīs.
If in the trip you fund some wind or got bagagge or a passenger, your engine gonna loose speed and gonna need power in medium range to fight with that problem.
The power that you need, Sitoplus got it, in higher RPMīs gonna give you the same power than the simo, but in medium range, your engine with a Sito+ is a 35% more powerfull than the simo, So never gonna loose speed or power in all tha RPMīs ranges.
Exist some graphics about the power curves of differents exhaust, and itīs says the same that i told u.
If i fund it i post it.

Cheers lads, appreciate your comments, evening if you are weeing yourselves lol. Sounds like the pipe is a complete load of sh*t going by these opinions. I dont understand why they have replaced the original pipe to start with, it seems kinda pointless?? There are a few cheap px's on ebay that look half decent but not sure where else to look? Ive been scouting the internet for about 2 months now - is there any places out there that sell Vespa's that you would recommend? I was all set to buy this scoot, now im having second thoughts, cheers fella's.

Have you got a copy of Scootering magazine? In there is the Scooter Trader section which normally has at least a couple of PX's for sale each month. For example, in the latest copy - 3 weeks old though - there is what looks to be a lovely T5 Classic for sale at Ģ1300 and an 02 PX125 with a Malossi 166 kit fitted for Ģ1150, (close to you too) There's also a virtually brand new PX125 limited edition for an eye watering Ģ2999, which I imagine should still be under warranty,

I'm sure there must be a dealer in your area who would be able to source one for you if you want the comfort blanket of a dealer warranty, but that will be recognised in the price I imagine.

Obviously it's up to you, but I personally would avoid ebay, or at least approach with caution.

Good luck.

i ride a px125 myself mate and thats fitted with a sterling pipe.its not too noisy and it gives a better performance than a simonini(thats what i found anyway)plus it looks better and wont rust up like a simonini either.
