Hi Everyone!
Its time to follow my heart and treat myself to a vintage vespa but know next to nothing about them. I have searched and searched the internet in the quest to answer these questions but have only managed to get bits and pieces.
I currently ride a GTS 250, which I love, but has recently been involved in a crash and is thought not worth repairing. So before I get too old I'm going to take the plunge.
I am after a large frame, and size of engine is not an issue. I am in love with the lines the 60's scoots have and have been into a show room recently and have had a brief chat about them.
They have recommended a VBB or Sprint, which I kind of know the difference between but could do with a refresher. They have also mentioned the options of refurbished engines and new engines with electric start, 10" wheels etc. At this point it got all too much for me so I said that I would have a think and be back (hopefully armed with more knowledge).
I've been told to steer clear from imports from vietnam which I no the reason for but what is the general consensus? Are ones from Spain, UK etc ok?
Can anyone spoon feed me what is what and suggest what I should go for. I realise a new engine will be more reliable but is this cheating?
Obviously I want a bike that I would be able to use when I want, without having all the problems that you hear of. I have not mechanical experience I'm afraid and will only use this to commute occasionally.
I have just seen a GS160 which I also like the look of which is more expensive obviously but do you think its worth the extra cash?
Thanks in advance!
